AC Milan veteran Paolo Maldini has signed a 14 year extension which earn him a cool €5 mil a year. The 40-year old former Italian international will be 54 years old when he retires from the game. A clause in his contract means he must play 75% of the season despite any injuries or family berevaments.
"I am very happy. To be able to play football until I am leat 54 is a dream come true. And even when that contract expires I hope to be in top shape to be able to sign another one. I expect to completely retire when I'm 75, maybe 80." said the defender.
Milan team-mate Ronaldinho said "He is a true star. Many people are well retired by the time they even reach 35. Paolo is an inspiration. I just hope he doesn't die in the mean-time".
Maldini also got a tattoo of "AC MILAN" tattoed on his eyelids showing his complete support and loyalty to the club.
