Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trappattoni told the Irish public that it's single women should arrange marrying young upcoming Brazilian footballers, in order for them to gain a passport for the Republic.
"I think it should be almost compulsary. We only have two or three good players. The rest are average or below average. If you get 3,000 Irish ladies to marry 3,000 Brazilian footballers, that means we have 3,000 more options for our team. We will pay both parties obviously. Brazil produces the best footballers and out of 3,000 at least one or two will become world class if they are trained correctly." Trappattoni told BBC Sport.
Brazilian team Fluiminese have reportedly told the FAI they will let 150 of their youth players aged 16-20 marry Irish women for passports for a "small fee".
