Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has today decided that he has put the club up for sale. He released a legthy 1,644 word statement in which he makes it clear it is not an attack on former manager Kevin Keegan.
The news reportedly interests Manchester City's new owners Abu Dhabi United Group who are thinking of buying the club and merge it in with Man City.
Sulaiman Al-Fahim told reporters "Yes, we may buy Newcastle United Football Club and merge it in with City. Then with StJames Park, we were thinking of knocking it down and building a 82 storey building we could lease to local and national businesses. Surrounded by statues of the likes of Alan Shearer, Kevin Keegan, Terry McDermott, Michael Owen, Shay Given, Joey Barton, Fumaça and other Newcastle United legends to keep locals happy."
