Scientology to be shirt sponsor of LA Galaxy

Cash strapped LA Galaxy have announced that the Church of Scientology will be the new shirt sponsor for the next two seasons, earning the club $10 mil a season. It was confirmed on the Galaxy's website that David Beckham asked Tom Cruise if he could ask the Church would they sponsor the club which they agreed to with one condition; everybody who wears an LA Galaxy shirt is automatically converted to the religion and must sign a form before they get a shirt to confirm so. This includes players, staff and even fans.

Galaxy owner Philip Anschutz said in USA Today "I am glad that the Church of Scientology is going to sponsor us. It'll raise both our profiles as organisations.".

Celtic, in a copycat idea, are rumoured to be hoping Pope Benedict XVI to consider sponsoring Celtic for the 2009/2010 season. Watch this space.
