Paris Saint-Germain FC, who themselves were founded in 1970 by the merger of Paris FC Stade Saint-Germain want to merge into a "superclub" with Lyon and Nice.
The idea was put forth by Paris Saint-Germain chairman Charles Villeneuve who put the idea to the board of both clubs, who reportedly both seem keen. "Yes, it will be most fantastic" explained Villeneuve, "and one fantastic aspect is that we may still be based in Paris but the name of the club could be PSG Lyonice FC and we think that sounds most appealing. We can all go in with everything being split 33.3%. This will mean the sale of a lot of players but we feel we can become invincible. Contracts have to be drawn up first though."
France legend Zinedine Zidane has hinted he would come out of retirement to join the club. According to zidane.fr "It would take a large offer to get me out of retirement. I am enjoying life with my family. But a new Paris based club sounds interesting."
