Feynoord left back Giovanni van Bronckhorst is so eager to wear the number 5 jersey he has agreed to purchase it from current holder Tim de Cler for €1.5 mil.
"I don't like number 8. Number 5 has been my number for my country for years. Tim said he wouldn't give it up. So I made him an offer of €50 which he refused. He managed to get me up to €1.5 mil which he accpeted by cheque. I wrote the wrong figure on the cheque so hopefully he won't notice I only gave him €1.50. Hopefully he finds the funny side of it" the former Barcelona star said.
Tim de Cler told reporters "I am delighted with the transaction. €1.5 mil is nothing in today's game. A squad number is very important for the player. If he wants to pay it, pay it then he shall. Now if you'll excuse me gentleman. I'm going to cash this cheque as I've bought a villa in Portugal and a private jet."
